Poker is a card game in which players bet into a communal pot based on the value of their hands. The players may use real money, but the most common type of poker is played with chips, which are made from plastic or ceramic and are typically colored red, white, blue, green, or black.<\/p>\n
1. The game begins by each player placing an initial amount into the pot, called antes or blinds. These bets are forced on the basis of statistical probability, but they can be voluntarily placed by a player who believes they have positive expected value or for other strategic reasons.<\/p>\n
The game is played by using a 52-card English deck. The cards are arranged in ascending order, with the ace being the highest. Two or more players can play, although the best games are usually played by five or six people.<\/p>\n
